Meet Aubrey. She is Beauty Revived.

Meet Aubrey. She is Beauty Revived.

Aubrey is a sweet, caring, beautiful, lovely young girl who knows first hand the importance of a kind and encouraging note.

When Aubrey was younger, she was bloated quite often and in pain constantly. The doctors diagnosed her with kidney issues, but the main problem lied in her intestines which did not function properly. She also had an enlarged colon due to the nerves not working like they should. She had several minor biopsies and when she was nearly five years old, she had a major surgery which left her unable to eat for two whole weeks. Aubrey’s mom wanted to lift her spirits, so she asked family and friends for assistance in collecting cards for her to open during her hospital stay. The response was an enormous stack of about 500 handmade cards and get well wishes! Her most favorite card, though, was one with a jellyfish on the front.

The following month, when Aubrey turned five, she bought her own P.O. Box and made flyers mentioning she was collecting cards to drop off to other children in the hospital. Her organization “Jellyfish Wishes” came to life… She received so many packages and cards for these children, that she started a nomination process. When the child was finished with chemo or surgery, she would ship a package to them with encouraging notes and handmade knitted jellyfish from people all over the United States and even from Japan! So many people, including local church groups, the Girl Scouts, and peers from her school, heard about Aubrey’s kindness and wanted to get involved as well.

Aubrey also sets up card making booths at local 5k’s, her favorite being the butterfly walk in Mason, Ohio, which brings awareness to pediatric cancer. She typically collects around 300 cards at that event to send to children in hospitals all over the country. She is also a member of the Cincinnati Children’s Champ Program, a gathering of child patients who share their inspiring stories and help the hospital as needed. In addition, she collects clothing for the homeless, attends dance marathons, and works with other local charities. She knows the importance of a kind word and wants others to know it as well.

Aubrey has received many awards and recognitions for her loving spirit and selfless work. She has been featured on the Dr. Oz Show, she has won a Kohl’s Scholarship Award for making her community a better place, a Making a Difference Award through the local news station, and the Difference Maker Award for bettering the lives of children in the community from the Cincinnati Museum Center.

When she’s not improving lives and lifting spirits in her community, Aubrey loves gymnastics, cheering, tennis, playing with animals, hiking barefoot, and making friends wherever she goes. She is a wonderful role model to her three younger siblings who all look up to her. She is such a sweet girl and always finds the good in people. She is really a one of a kind person with a heart of gold!

Beauty Revived's 50 Most Beautiful Children Campaign

50Children-1.jpg
We are photographers shining light on the good and beautiful. We are Beauty Revived.

I'm so honored to have been chosen as one of the photographers for Beauty Revived's 50 most beautiful children campaign! Beauty Revived celebrates the stories of real women and children with real beauty. After applying and being chosen, each photographer donates one session to a deserving woman or child who shows attributes of kindness, courage, and strength. These sessions are featured on the Beauty Revived website. Beauty Revived was established in 2014 and has held 13 national campaigns, has a network of 1500 photographers, and has told the stories of 600 women in print in 9 magazines published.

I am looking for a child between the ages of 2-12 who shows attributes of kindness, strength, and courage; one who has made a difference in their community by inspiring those around them, radiates beauty from the inside out, and has shown their giving spirit and love to those around them. Click here to read about the amazing children that were part of last year's campaign!

The chosen nominee will have a beautifully styled photo shoot from me - including wardrobe, hairstyling, and vintage furniture/accessories. The child's story and images will be featured in Beauty Revived's 50 Most Beautiful Children magazine (Aug/Sept issue), blog, and social media. Child will receive a copy of the magazine and photographs from their shoot.

I will be taking nominations until May 1st!
